RED, special issue
In the first quarter of 2025, the Revue d'Économie du Développement will publish a special issue gathering a selection of short papers based on accepted contributions from the ICDE 2024 that took place in Aix-en-Provence from July 2 to 3, 2024. In the spirit of the AEA Papers and Proceedings, expected contributions are essentially shortened versions of presented papers, but can also provide extension of or shed light on an aspect that has been left out of the full-length paper. The objective of this special issue is to provide an overview of current research in development economics as given by presentations made during the conference.
Such short paper publications are not a substitute for the publication of the full-length paper in peer-reviewed journals, but rather shall be regarded as a complement. The publication in the special issue can be seen as a way to promote your own research to a large audience of researchers interested in development economics issues. Papers can be submitted either in English or in French and will be published in both English and French.
Schedule
The deadline for submissions is September 15, 2024 (to be confirmed) at https://red.manuscriptmanager.net. While submitting your paper, please make sure that you choose "International Conference on Development Economics, Special Issue" for the type of submission. Authors will receive a notice of decision (either accept or reject) no later than November 30, 2024 (to be confirmed). Only minor modifications will potentially be demanded by editors. The online publication of the special issue is scheduled for the first quarter of 2025.
Guidelines
Submitted papers ought to comply with the following requirements:
- Total length shall be between 6,000 and 12,000 signs (including spaces); this includes a very short abstract whose length shall be no more than 260 signs (about 3 single sentences),
- Time News Roman 12pt fonts,
- The paper's title shall differ from the one of the full-length paper,
- The paper shall be written either in English or in French,
- No more than one figure (counting as 1,000 signs),
- Econometric results tables shall be avoided as much as possible,
- Avoid self-plagiarism to make sure your full-length paper will not be refused for publication in a peer-reviewed journal. Authors are fully responsible for taking all the necessary precautions to prevent plagiarism-motivated refusal of their full-length paper,
- No more than 6 references in the references list (including the full-length paper),
- One to three keywords and up to two JEL codes.

Questions
1) May the paper be submitted if it was not presented during the conference?
Only papers that were accepted for the conference are eligible for this special issue. It is still possible to submit if the paper was accepted, but the author finally could not attend the conference.
2) Will the publication of the paper in the special issue prevent the publication of the full-length paper in a peer-reviewed journal?
If you carefully respect the guidelines and avoid self-plagiarism, the publication in the special issue should not induce a risk of rejection for your full-length paper in a peer-reviewed journal (including the Revue d'Économie du Développement). Nevertheless, Any formal agreement is signed with any peer-reviewed journal on this specific point.
